ACE Logistics Estonia will move to a new logistics center this May. The terminal will be moved to a new building on May 3rd. Office and warehouse will be moved during the next month as well. New more than 6,000 square meter office, warehouse and terminal space is located in Rukki tee 12, Lehmja, Harjumaa. The center has been built by Mapri Ehitus.
Andres Matkur, the CEO of ACE Logistics Group said, that the new building is necessary and designed specially for our company. The new terminal gives us more time to pick up the goods and also makes it possible to distribute the goods faster. Most of our customers pack their products on a pallet which is helping to make it easier to handle and store their goods efficiently. Fewer customers are sending and receiving small parcels and packages. Our new logistics center will provide a solution for storing and handling these as well. The suitable location can also be seen by many of our customers and other logistic companies operating in the same area.
Tarmo Roos, CEO of Mapri Ehitus said that all builders like to make a multi purpose building. It is like making a tailor-made suit. Diameter planing, a decent modern office with cabinets, a great interior designer and energy saving are the target words when characterizing the new logistics center. Everything is practical, nothing is overdone. As a builder he also appreciates the concrete floors with a joint-free solution for the warehouse and terminal.
As a result, working conditions have improved significantly. New building is equipped with the newest loading technology, and all the rooms have proper lighting system. Office workers can adjust the height of desks. There are many cabinets and fewer open offices. The building has 2300 square meters of terminal space and a high-rise warehouse of 2600 square meters. The office occupies 1000 square meters. The ground still has space to build on 4000 square meters if and when needed. The construction of the three-story building was financed by SEB bank, with a total investment of 5 million euros.
Andres Matkur commented on the current state of the logistics companies noted, that ACE Logistics has worked fully prepared throughout the crisis. He noted that our customers have been affected very differently, some have lost a significant amount of their turnover, while others have made a profit out of it. When communicating with customers, they have shown a greater interest in warehousing services to turn their company’s fixed costs into variable costs. The new logistic center can offer these solutions. In general, however, we have a wait-and-see attitude. In March, the activity volumes were still completely decent and even higher than on previous year. April shows signs of shrinkage and increased participation in industrial companies can be seen, with a possible larger decline in volumes to come in the summer months.
