In June, we will celebrate the 10th anniversary of ACE Logistics starting to offer road transport services via Dachser Finland Oy, a company co-founded with ACE’s long-term partner Dachser, one of the largest logistics companies in Europe. In honor of this anniversary, we would like to briefly introduce our readers to Dachser Finland Oy and its history.
The early days of Dachser Finland in 2014 were quite eventful. Preparations for the company’s launch had already taken a few years, with the last six months being especially intense. However, the first months after the launch were not any easier. One of the company’s first tasks was to take over the existing road cargo traffic to Finland, which required working IT systems and a functioning pick-up and distribution network. Because Dachser Finland did not start from scratch, during their first week of operation the company had to arrange the delivery of close to 3,000 import shipments. In time, Dachser Finland achieved a certain stability in operations management, which allowed attention to be allocated to research and development. By the end of the same year, a regular line truck route was opened between Tallinn and Helsinki. Additionally, the company, with its six members, relocated to new facilities in Vantaa.
From there, Dachser Finland has shown strong and consistent growth. This was evident in 2019 when there were announcements of remarkable developments. When ACE Logistics Estonia announced its upcoming relocation to the new logistics center at Rukki tee 12, Dachser Finland Oy also announced plans to relocate to a new logistics center in Kerava, which has been operational since October 2020. Additionally, there were significant developments in the daily traffic schedule between Estonia and Finland. In 2019, we started an additional daily morning departure, which benefits not only Estonian customers but also our neighbors in the Baltics.
As a result of these successful 10 years, Dachser Finland Oy has established itself in Finland as a competitive and attractive partner in the logistics and transport sector. Growth has persisted to this day, with the introduction of multimodality being one of the recent major developments in Dachser Finland’s transport service network. Furthermore, there have been recent talks of expansion, as Dachser Finland is planning a new logistics center in Tampere, scheduled to open in the early part of 2025. There have also been developments in social aspects, including family days for employees and cooperation projects with local universities. In these challenging times, Dachser Finland’s efforts to support Ukraine are also noteworthy.
“The profound collaboration between ACE Logistics and Dachser has resulted in Dachser Finland Oy being able to offer ever-growing road transport solutions to our customers in Finland. We are grateful for the continuous cooperation and look forward to what the future holds for our joint venture”, says Tuomas Leimio, Managing Director Dachser Finland European Logistics.
Congratulations to Dachser Finland on this milestone! Thank you for the many years of successful cooperation, and we wish you good luck in your future projects!
